Heartless Employer

I find the Channel U 十分头条 is a very good programme. It shown some of the unfair incidents happen in our society that might not known to us. Yesterday shown the 2nd part of foreign workers (from India) cheated by their employer.

In case 1, a construction company fail to pay a Indian worker his 9 months salaries. His employer threaten to send him back to india if he complain it to MOM. Later when he do so, his boss promised to pay and lured him go to his house; showed him the money and asked him to acknowlege on a pay voucher. But after he put his signature on the paper, his "heartless" employer immediately took back the money. That poor indian begged his boss to return back his money, but was humilated by his boss and friends. Out of desperation, he snatched back the pay voucher and tear it into pieces and he get beaten up by them. The case is investigate by MOM.

In case 2, a young 21 year-old Sri Lankan, came to Singapore after his hometown kena hit by Tsunami last year. In order for him to pay the $7000 Agent's Fee in Singapore, he borrowed money from his relatives and friends. It's end-up to be a broken promise, no work permit is issue to him, and the agent refused to return back the agent's fee. He is now back home waiting reply from MOM.

There are more such cases out there, where some employers take advantage of their ignorance of Singapore Labour law. These poor foreigners 离乡背井,already suffered home-sick, earning about $20 per day (more pathetic than "PEANUT POWDER"), work 12 hours a day. YET those cruel Singaporean can have the heart to cheat them. To me this kind of act is like robbery, fine no use, must go to jail. These group of people deserved to loss all their wealth and work as labour in foreign country. If there recairnation, these creatures dun fit to become human beings.

Some Singaporean might think they are SUPERIOR now, but who knows one day Singapore may become poor, 风水轮流转

Conclusion, if our Gov can punish a few kids for downloading MP3 from internet, charged 2 person on posting racist remark in a internet forum, think they should also propose a tighter law and punishment to these heartless people.

Buangkok aka white elephant MRT Station

Sometime I really can't understand some of our fellow Singaporean's "Thinking"! On 28 August, somebody called 999 reported that he/she spotted 8 white elephants cardboard outside Buangkok Mrt Station. Helloooo!! C'mom lah these are not real white elephants running around the MRT station, call police for what??? Our dear 警察叔叔 got more important thing to do, why over react? If the person who called 999 thought that the white elephants were created by the terrorists, then i got nothing to say....!

The police is investigating the incident and adds that it must be "fair and transparent, and not investigate selectively". I hope that person who put up elephants cardboard will not get punish for the act. It is just a "silent protest" on the delay opening of the station. Moreover the elephants got 8 different expression and so nicely done, so must appreciate the effort mah!!!

To look in a postive way, The white elephants was not to "SUAN" the SMRT Authority, but to "Bless' the MRT Station, because White Elephant is a Holy animal to the Hindus and Buddhists. Before Buddha was borned, his pregnant mother alway dreamt of white elephant and was treated as a good omen.

If Singaporean cannot appreciate these kind of "harmless" humour, then we should not label our as a "OPEN and CREATIVE SOCIETY".
